Pro Optika’s loyal customer Eva’s journey towards orthokeratology lenses
· updated
When Eva heard from her good friend Katriine that it was now possible to get orthokeratology lenses in Estonia, Eva, with her background in optics, was immediately fascinated by the idea. Why not try a life without glasses without needing eye surgery? It would be wonderful to open your eyes in the morning and look outside to clearly see every leaf moving in the wind. The thought of heading into summer without constantly cleaning glasses also appealed to Eva. Plus, avoiding the ‘glasses tan’ for once seemed like a nice bonus. She added that, naturally, she also had a professional interest related to her previous field. She was curious about how these lenses worked. Now we can say for sure that, according to Eva, orthokeratology lenses are very cool!
Although Eva had previously worn daily lenses, she rarely used them because her eyes would dry out and become tired by the evening. Still, putting lenses in and everything related to it was not difficult for her. Since orthokeratology lenses are hard lenses, they are quite easy to feel in the eye. It will definitely take at least a week to get used to the feeling. The good thing is that these are night lenses and being able to fall asleep straight away will help you get used to them. After using night lenses for a month, Eva confirmed that you do get used to the feeling and putting in the lenses becomes just another part of the evening routine.
How the lenses changed Eva's quality of life
People quickly get used to comfort and Eva agrees completely. In the first few weeks, the most exciting part for her was seeing more sharply than she ever had with glasses or daily contact lenses. During the first few days at work, she was distracted by admiring the beauty of nature and the clear outlines of distant objects. In general, Eva started to notice the beauty in the small things in everyday life. There was no need to constantly clean glasses or carry several pairs of glasses and lenses. Her constant dilemma this summer was whether to wear lenses and regular sunglasses or optical sunglasses when going out. Now, the choice was easy. Of course, she is also looking forward to winter, when she will no longer have to constantly clean her glasses when going outside from a warm room.
Eva also likes to swim. One of the biggest highlights for her was being able to see clearly underwater while swimming. For the first time in a long time, she could happily turn her face to the sky during a rain shower and happily let all the raindrops fall on her face instead of worrying about keeping her glasses dry.
If you prefer comfort, Eva confidently says that orthokeratology (ortho-k) lenses make it possible. The word ‘comfort’ fully captures how ortho-k lenses have improved her quality of life.
Every glasses wearer has their own set of problems, but ortho-k lenses will definitely make some part of your life more comfortable – whether it's playing sports, watching TV in your loved one's arms or hugging. Life without glasses is simply easier.
Eva keeps hearing the question, “Where did your glasses go?” When she shares her story, people find ortho-k lenses a bit futuristic, but they also arouse curiosity.
